Columbus - Approximately 300 auctioneers and guests turned out for the Ohio Auctioneers Association’s Annual Convention, January 19-21, 2008 in Dublin, OH at the Embassy Suites Hotel, at which the organization bestowed its highest honor to one of its top auctioneers. The Hall of Fame committee, comprised of only 32 auctioneers since its inception, inducted Dannie Hess of Sardinia, OH on Sunday, January 19 during the annual Hall of Fame Luncheon. Joining Dannie at this event were 15 previous winners of this high honor.
Dannie Hess, of Hess Auction Co., LLC, started the family business over 54 years ago, as an auctioneer with his company and residence in the same area where he grew up. For about 20 years, he was an Auctioneer for producers Stockyards in Hillsboro, as well as Olive Hill and Marysville, Kentucky. The Hess family operates as a true family business. In 2005, Dannie retired from the business leaving his son Glenn, grandson Brad and family friend and Auctioneer of over 20 years, John Grover, to operate the company.
Keith Sheridan of Sheridan & Associates, Auctioneers, Real Estate Broker, Appraisers, LLC, nominated Dannie Hess for this award and had this to say, “I have worked with the Hess’s many times down thru the years. I can say Dannie Hess is a true man of God. He has built his business on two main concepts: integrity and honesty. He is a very welcome addition to the OAA Hall of Fame.
Dannie resides in Sardinia, OH with his wife whom he married in 1946, Lela Mae. Dannie and Lela Mae have one child, Glenn and one grandson, Brad. |
